• Book chapter · Author Fault Current Limiters, CIGRE Green Book. Author of the chapter covering fault current limiting technology, its application to distribution and transmission systems, and the system-level consequences of installing it. Published by CIGRE, the International Council on Large Electric Systems.
• Book chapter · Author High-Voltage Direct Current (HVDC), The Power Grid. Author of the HVDC chapter, covering converter topology, control, and the role of DC transmission in modern grid architecture.

• Voting member IEEE 1584, IEEE Guide for Performing Arc-Flash Hazard Calculations. IEEE 1584 is the IEEE guide most widely used for calculating incident energy and arc flash boundaries. Working group members draft and vote on revisions to the guide.
• Founding member NFPA Technical Committee on Electrical Inspection Practices: NFPA 78 and NFPA 1078. Founding member of the committee responsible for the NFPA guide on electrical inspection methodology and the standard on professional qualifications for electrical inspectors.
• Senior Member IEEE. Elevated membership grade requiring documented professional maturity and significant technical performance.

• Award · 2015 Plant Engineering Magazine Product of the Year, Electrical Safety. Awarded for an arc-flash mitigation device developed at G&W Electric.
• Patent Alternative busway testing method. Patented in the United States and Europe. Patent numbers are supplied with the full curriculum vitae.
• Other inventions Solid-state circuit breaker · Absence-of-voltage tester · Voltage proving unit. Electrical safety and switching apparatus developed over the product-development years.

Two public projects put the underlying engineering on the record:

• Open derivations & calculators PowerEngCalc: a PEFG product with worked derivations and calculators for AC and DC arc flash incident energy, battery short-circuit current, transformer thermal aging, motor starting, voltage drop, conduit fill, and cable tray ampacity derating. The derivation is shown alongside every result, with the source standard or method cited.
• Document screening Ohmics: a PEFG product that screens arc flash studies, labels, drawings, coordination settings, procedures, partial discharge reports, and transformer DGA results against checklists Jay wrote. It is an automated preliminary screening, not a stamped review, and is useful as a low-cost first pass before deciding whether a full expert review is needed.

Publishing the derivations is deliberate, so the methods can be checked independently of any one matter.

• Tutorial · IEEE IAS Electrical Safety Workshop · 2024 Catastrophic Electrical Failure: Now What? A Guide to Incident Response, Failure Analysis and Potential Legal Proceedings. IEEE IAS Electrical Safety Workshop (ESW), Tucson, Arizona, 2024. Co-presented with Zarheer Jooma, P.E. Author of the investigation methodology, scene safety, evidence collection, failure analysis, and legal-process sections, and of three case studies: a medium-voltage switchgear bus fault, a facility substation busway failure located from transformer differential relay data, and an arc flash failure traced to voltage-transformer bushing insulation.
